Mix together the egg, milk and espresso shot
Heat half the butter in a pan on medium heat. Lightly dip the bread in the egg mixture on each side and place in the pan. Cook for 2-4 minutes on each side. Repeat with the other slice. Set aside
Meanwhile, whip the cream, mascarpone and icing sugar
Assemble the French toast with cream mixture (in either swirls or spread across), then place another piece on top and follow with cream. Top with cocoa powder and strawberry hearts
