FAQs

What is a jaffle vs toastie?

In some places, jaffle and toastie are used interchangeably, however that’s not to say they’re the same. A jaffle tends to have sealed edges so that the filling stays in, meanwhile a toastie is toasted using a flat surface like a sandwich press or fry pan.

Why is it called a toastie?

The name toastie comes from how the sandwich is cooked: that is, toasted or grilled, giving it a golden exterior. The term is commonly used in Australia, the UK and Ireland.

Can you make a toastie without butter?

You can make a toastie without butter by using alternatives like vegetable oil to stop the bread from burning. You can also use cooking spray or even dry-toast using non-stick cookware.
