FAQs

Why doesn’t my French toast get crispy?

If your French toast is more soggy than crispy, you may be using bread that’s too fresh. Stale or dry bed is generally better for this recipe, as it will absorb the batter. You may also be using too much liquid in your recipe – make sure to use just enough to coat the bread, but not enough that it becomes soggy.

Why does my French toast turn into eggs?

If your French toast looks more like scrambled eggs then you may be using too much egg mixture, or not cooking it long enough. Make sure your ratio of eggs in the batter is right, shaking off any excess before you pop it in a frying pan.

What do you put in French toast?

French toast is typically made from bread that has been soaked in eggs, milk and other ingredients like cinnamon, sugar and vanilla essence. It can be made with a wide range of breads – from a white loaf to brioche.
