Well we have, and we can’t wait for you to try making it yourself!

Our secret to making this delightfully squeaky cheese shine is a generous drizzle of hot honey, which mixes with the saltiness of the halloumi, creating a spicy and savoury feast for the senses. We wanted to make a meal of it though, and what better way to do that than with our crunchy and deliciously dense Sourdough Vienna. Add some fresh guacamole and cherry tomatoes, and you have a toasted snack that’s so good you’ll want to make it every day!

What cheese goes well with hot honey?

Hot honey and halloumi are a fantastic combination for a spicy snack, but you can also pair other delicious cheeses with it. Try milky cheeses, like mozzarella or burrata to balance out the fiery honey kick, or other mild cheeses like brie or baked camembert for a gooey warm treat.

Should you pat dry halloumi before cooking?

It’s definitely a good idea to drain and pat halloumi dry before cooking, as this means you’ll get a crispier crust. Use a paper towel or a clean tea towel and you’re good to go!

What tastes good with halloumi?

While halloumi with honey tastes amazing, there’s lots of other things that pair well with it. Citrus makes a great addition, offsetting the saltiness of the halloumi, so try lime juice or lemon juice squeezed on top. It also tastes great on sandwiches, with dips, and in breakfast favourites like Shakshuka, scrambled eggs and avo on toast.
