Ingredients

Ingredients

Bakers Delight White Cob Loaf
3 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 cup chives, chopped finely
250g cream cheese, chopped, at room temperature
1 cup light sour cream
100g butter
1/2 tsp chilli flakes
2 tbsp olive oil
1½ kg uncooked medium prawns, peeled, de-veined, tails intact
Lemon wedges, to serve

Method

    1. Step 1

      Preheat oven 180 degrees

    2. Step 2

Combine butter, half the garlic, half the chives and chilli flakes into a small bowl.

    3. Step 3

In another bowl combine the remaining garlic & chives with the cream cheese & sour cream, salt & pepper. Whip until well combined

    4. Step 4

Using a sharp knife, remove the top of the cob and scoop out all the soft bread into medium chunks. Place cob & bread chunks on an oven tray; brush with oil. Bake for 20 minutes or until cob is crisp and golden brown. Remove from oven

    5. Step 5

Meanwhile, add the garlic butter mixture and olive oil to a large frying pan over medium high heat. Cook the prawns in batches for a few minutes on each side until just cooked. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper

    6. Step 6

Allow the cob to cool slightly, then fill with the garlic cream cheese mixture

    7. Step 7

Transfer the prawns to the cob as they are cooked. Drizzle with any remaining juices from the pan. Transfer to a serving plate; serve with lemon wedges.

FAQ’s

Can you pan fry already cooked prawns?

Yes, you can pan fry already cooked prawns. If you don’t want to use raw prawns, simply add pre-cooked prawns to a fry pan and heat until warm. As they’re already cooked this won’t take too long, and it’s an easy hack if you’re looking to save time.

How do you cook prawns and keep them juicy

Prawns cook quickly, so the less you cook them the better (ensuring of course that they’re cooked all the way through). A few minutes on each side is usually enough.

Is it better to peel prawns before cooking?

Peeling prawns before cooking is ideal if you’re going for easy eating. For the perfect presentation, leave their tails on (this also gives people something to grab hold of – perfect for when you’re entertaining). If you aren’t fussed about getting your fingers messy, peeling prawns after they’re cooked can make them slightly more flavourful and juicy.
