FAQs

What do you put in French toast?

French toast is typically bread dipped into a mixture of eggs, milk and cream. There are other variations depending on the recipe. Sometimes that mixture can also include cinnamon and sugar.

What kind of bread is best for French toast?

You’ll want to use a bread that is a few days old to make sure it absorbs the mixture better while making sure it doesn’t go soggy. Some popular breads include brioche, sourdough or a plain old white loaf. For our recipe, we suggest using the Bakers Delight Sourdough Vienna.

Does bread have to be stale for French toast?

When it comes to French Toast, your bread should ideally be a few days old, however it isn’t a must. People tend to prefer to use a slightly stale bread, finding it soaks up the mixture better while retaining its shape. If you use fresh bread, you might find that the toast is a bit softer and more custard-like in texture.
