FAQ’s

What is the origin of the cheese scone?

The exact origin of the cheese scone is unknown. However, scones as a whole are generally believed to have originated from Scotland (that’s right – not England). However, they soon became a staple in British tea culture, and evolved to have different variations over time. As for savoury scones, it’s believed that bakers began to experiment with different ingredients, likely leading to the creation of the cheese scone.

Are scones meant to be eaten warm?

Yes, generally scones are meant to be served warm. The warmth helps give them a soft, fluffy texture and can also make it easier to spread toppings like butter and cream. However, some recipes may have slight variations and instead serve them cold – especially with savoury toppings.

What can you eat with a cheese scone?

Cheese scones can be served with a range of different toppings, creating unique recipes for you to try. Some popular toppings include:

    • Butter
    • Pesto
    • Sauces like mustard or sweet chilli
    • Tomato chutney
    • Meats like ham or prosciutto
    • Smoked salmon

There’s no limitation when it comes to topping your cheese scone. Instead, get creative and try out a few variations to see what you love.
