Baked Apples with Cinnamon Crumb Topping
Using our White Loaf, we have created a healthier (but equally delicious) crumble, nestled in Granny Smith apples.

Ingredients
Apples and filling
6 Granny Smith apples
1/3 cup brown sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp lemon juice
Breadcrumb topping
2 thick slices of stale bread
1 tbsp brown sugar
¼ tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp olive oil

Step 1
Pre-heat the oven to 200°C

Line a small baking dish with baking paper

Cut the tops off 4 apples and use an apple corer or small knife to remove the core

Using a spoon, remove the rest of the flesh from inside the apple taking care not to damage the skin

Place hollow apples onto the baking tray and bake for 10 minutes in the oven. Remove from oven and keep aside

Peel, core and chop the remaining apples into 1cm pieces

Place the chopped apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon into a saucepan and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes or until apples are cooked through

Place bread slices, brown sugar and cinnamon into a food processor and blend until small breadcrumbs have been achieved

Place a frying pan over medium heat. Heat the oil in the frying pan and toast the breadcrumb mix until golden

To serve, fill each apple with the chopped apple mix and top with breadcrumbs

Serve with vanilla ice cream and caramel topping
