Apple & Cinnamon French Toast

Ingredients
4 thick slices Bakers Delight Apple & Cinnamon Sourdough Loaf
2 free-range eggs, whisked
½ cup of milk
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into slices
2 tbsp butter
¼ cup white sugar
2 tbsp water
¼ cup thickened cream
Pinch of salt flakes
Raspberries to serve

Step 1
In a medium size frying pan melt 1 tbsp of butter. Add the apple slices and cook until golden on both sides and starting to soften

Remove the apples from the pan and set aside. Wipe the pan clean and add the sugar and water

Cook over high heat until a dark caramel has been achieved. Carefully add the cream and salt to the caramel and bring to a simmer before removing from the heat. Add the apple slices to the caramel and set aside for later

Step 4
Add the eggs and milk to a bowl and whisk to combine. Add the slices of bread, turn to coat and let them soak for 2-3 minutes

Heat a large frying pan over medium heat and melt the remaining butter. Add the slices of bread to the frying pan and cook for 2 minutes each side or until the slices are golden

Serve with the apples, salted caramel and raspberries
