How to store fresh bread
To store fresh bread, keep it in a paper bag and eat it the day you bought it for crusty loaves and rolls. For soft breads, scones, and buns, store them at room temperature in a bread bag, a plastic bag, or a bread bin for maximum freshness that lasts for days. If you want it to last even longer, you can freeze it for up to four to five months, just be sure to keep it in a plastic bag with as much air removed as possible. All the dyes used in our bags are food-safe, but to avoid ink transfer onto your bread, keep it out of the sun and off wet benchtops.

Why is fresh bread better?
Fresh bread, like the kind we bake daily, doesn’t only taste delicious, but it’s also made from real ingredients. With a soft and chewy texture, fresh bread smells just as good as it tastes. Handcrafted by our bakers, our bread is baked freshly daily (unlike a pre-frozen reheated supermarket loaf). 

Why does fresh bread taste so good?
Fresh bread tastes so good, partly because of something called the Maillard reaction (excuse us while we get a little sciency!). In a nutshell, it’s when protein, sugar, and heat come together and create the browning and the delicious fresh bread smell that we all know and love. Smell is a huge part of taste, but the texture and crunch of a freshly baked loaf also adds to its delicious flavour. Plus, at Bakers Delight we use real ingredients in all our recipes – so you know that you’re getting the best!
