Savoury French Toast Recipe
French toast is a delicious breakfast or brunch treat, but it often comes oozing with sweetness. While we love a good sweet treat here at Bakers Delight, we didn’t want the savoury-lovers out there to miss out. That’s why we’ve created a savoury French toast recipe to add to your repertoire!
To make our French toast savoury, we’ve used Parmesan cheese and onion and garlic powder, which add a strong and hearty flavour to the dish. For the topping, we chose sauteed garlic mushrooms, which add earthiness and bite. Ingredients
French Toast
2 slices Bakers Delight Hi-Fibre Lo-GI White Block Loaf
1 egg
2 tbsp milk of choice
2 tbsp Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt
Pepper
To Serve
1/2 tbsp garlic butter
6 cherry tomatoes, halved
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1 egg, poached
Fresh herbs
Method

Step 1
In a bowl combine the egg, milk, cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, salt & pepper

Coat each slice of the bread in the mixture & add to a non stick pan over medium heat

Cook for 4 minutes per side or until golden

To a pan add the garlic butter, cook the mushrooms & tomato

To poach the egg add it into a pot of boiling water with 1tbsp vinegar. Reduce heat to a simmer & let cook for 3 minutes

Add the French toast to a plate along with the mushrooms, tomatoes, poached egg & some fresh herbs. Enjoy!
