FAQ’s

What does smoked salmon go best with?

Smoked salmon goes well with a range of creamy, sweet, sour or salty flavours. Soft cheeses like cream cheese, creme fraîche or brie will add a delightful creaminess without overpowering the smokiness of the salmon, with lemon, cucumber, and dill brightening the dish. For an extra salty and sour pop, add capers or olives, or rocket for a peppery finish. When it comes to the perfect salmon open sandwich, try flavoursome breads like sourdough or rye, which will add an extra dimension to your lunch.

What cheese goes with smoked salmon?

If you’d like the perfect cheese to pair with smoked salmon, try cream cheese, brie, or camembert. If you’d like a bit more flavour, goat’s cheese, blue cheese, and even an aged cheddar go nicely with the smokiness of the salmon.

Is most smoked salmon hot or cold smoked?

When it comes to smoked salmon, cold smoked is the most common, which means that the salmon is smoked in an oven that never gets above around 30 degrees celsius. You’ll know if it’s cold smoked as the salmon will look raw (which it technically is). When salmon is hot smoked it’ll look more like cooked salmon, appear flakier, and have a smokier flavour.
