Anthony started his journey with Bakers Delight in 1995 after becoming a qualified baker. He worked in our Warrnambool bakery for eight years, working his way up from a baker to bakery manager.
In 2003 Anthony and Belinda were part of a team tasked with expanding Bakers Delight to the Canadian market and after 12 months developing their skills in Canada, Anthony and Belinda returned to Melbourne where Anthony took a position as a technical baker, and shortly after became an Area Manager.
Finding the perfect work/life balance
With a passion for surfing, both Anthony and Belinda wanted to find a job with the perfect work/life balance that would allow them to be able to surf more and enjoy a life on the coast, where they could raise a family away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. A Franchisee got them thinking after suggesting the couple purchase the Ocean Grove Marketplace bakery and 12 months later, they did!
Already part of the Bakers Delight network, Anthony was able to complete the Manage to Own program which took he and Belinda through 16 competency-based modules that are delivered within the workplace.
“The support we had through the Manage To Own program was amazing. The opportunity to own our own business was both exciting and nerve wracking, however with the support of the Bakers Delight operations, recruitment and training teams, as well as fellow Franchisees, we were able to make our dreams come true,” said Anthony.
“We were well supported through the entire process, which can be quite daunting, even after working with the company for quite some time.”
Anthony attributes his families success to the huge amount of support and expertise he has received from the Bakers Delight support office team as well as fellow Franchisees and describes that best part of being with the Bakers Delight network is that you are working for yourself, not by yourself.
Anthony and Belinda now run two successful bakeries in Ocean Grove, have three young children and live only a five-minute walk from the bakery and the beach.
